Professor of Communication Studies Nicholas Brody was quoted in an article in PsyPost about his research on the social-emotional benefits of reconnecting with friends or family. In a study that examined relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic, Brody and his co-authors found that people who rekindled dormant relationships reported lower levels of depression and loneliness—even when those conversations took place through social media, text messages, video calls, or email.
"Overall, these findings underscore the potential mental health benefits of communication technology usage, especially during stressful times," Brody said.

The best thing to do after losing a job isn't to immediately start looking for a new gig. Instead, take time to volunteer and reach out to your network to look for new opportunities.

Rising sophomore Alex Rhodes ’27 and Team USA won the 4x400-meter relay at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, this weekend. After placing third in the 400-meter dash at the USA Track & Field Under-20 Championships earlier this summer, Rhodes helped the team capture the gold with a blistering 3:3.056 finish.
"[It's] truly an honor to be able to represent the University of Puget Sound and the entirety of Division III at the world stage," he said.

The Class of 2028 commemorated the end of their first week of campus with a class photo on Todd Field. The newest crop of Loggers includes students from 26 states and around the world, with students coming from as far away as Nigeria.
