The Lutrill and Pearl Payne School of Education had a very busy and productive summer as we offered 48 summer school courses for our undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to teaching, many of our faculty were also busy with research and outreach programs, some of which you can read about here. 

One important milestone occurred this summer as we hosted a training for teachers who will be facilitators for our first-ever School of Education dual enrollment courses-- courses that will help encourage and prepare high school students who plan to become part of the teaching profession. We are excited to offer dual enrollment for the Multicultural Learning Communities course and the Foundations of Education course, both required for the pre-educator pathway in Louisiana. We are preparing for an outstanding academic year as classes begin on August 21. We are welcoming new faculty and preparing innovative programs, and we can't wait to tell you about them in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned!

The Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education held its very first Pinning Ceremony for teacher graduates to welcome graduates into the teaching profession and recognize their hard work during residency.

Kyley Pulphus, doctoral candidate in Curriculum and Instruction, has been recognized by the International Literacy Associate as the 2023 Helen M. Robinson Grant recipient.

New Integrated STEM Education Course This Fall

A new course on the trends and issues in integrated STEM Education is coming to LSU SOE this fall. Dr. Emily Dare will lead graduate level students interested in informal education and education research within STEM disciplines.

On Exhibit: Hill Memorial Library Honors Lutrill and Pearl Payne

Visit Hill Memorial Library this fall to see “The Legacies They Built: Pinkie Gordon Lane, Lutrill and Pearl Payne, and Julian T. White.” This special exhibit celebrates our school’s new namesake, showcasing historical artifacts about each of these changemakers.
