Are you a graduate student looking to make an impact on the international community at Miami?
Gain professional experience working with ISSS and play an integral role in helping new international students prepare for success as an International Peer Orienation Leader. iPOLs are vital in shaping a positive experience for international students who will be starting their studies in Fall 2021. Are you an international student thinking about career opportunities after graduation?
Update your Handshake account and review the ISSS webpage on Optional Practical Training. OPT is off-campus work authorization for students in F-1 status who have completed their academic program. If you have questions about the OPT process or are interested to learn more, ISSS staff will offer an OPT info session on February 18 at 12pm (noon) EST.

The Comparative Religion Student Association will host a lunar new year party arranged so that attendees can join one or more of the twelve differnt animal zodiac rooms: mouse/rat, ox/cow, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat/sheep, monkey, rooster/chicken, dog, and pig. 2021 will be the year of the Ox!

Immigration Tip
Get prepared to file your taxes!

Any international student who was present in the U.S. for part of 2020 should file Form 8843 for the upcoming tax season.

International students who received a form of income from Miami will soon receive additional tax documents from the Payroll Office along with information on how to access the Sprintax online tax preparation software. 

Sprintax will be offering several live webinars that cover topics such as who must file a U.S. tax return, residency for tax purposes, FICA, amended returns, implications of misfiling, the stimulus check and much more.
