Seasonal Programs Update

Okemo Mountain Resort is committed to providing a safe and meaningful experience to both our guests and employees this winter. The Ski + Ride School seasonal programs have always been an integral part of not only our mountain but also our resort community. In light of the current pandemic, we are working hard to ensure our resort operations meet the highest standards of employee and guest safety for the upcoming winter. This process has inevitably pushed back the rollout of much of our winter programming and has understandably generated some concern about if Okemo will have Amplitude this winter. We remain committed to doing everything we can to have a program that meets the needs of our coaches, children, and their families for this season. At this point, we are still very much in the development stage and we foresee us remaining here for several more weeks. Until we’ve finalized our seasonal programs, we’ve removed the links on our website for these programs. This has been done to limit confusion and mixed messaging as we continue to work through the process of putting these programs together. As we’ve seen from some of the areas within our country going through a second lockdown, it’s critical that we get this right the first time. We ask for your continued patience as we continue to work through this process with our resort partners both locally and nationally.

Instructor Virtual Town Hall

Please join us this Friday, September 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. for a virtual town hall with the Ski + Ride management team. We will be sharing updates and answering questions about the upcoming season. Stay tuned for the details to join the virtual call and a chance to submit your questions in advance of the meeting. Your attendance at the meeting is not mandatory to return to work this winter. We look forward to gathering virtually with you on Friday.

We appreciate your continued patience as we build our plans for this winter and we know you may have unanswered questions. We want to ensure you that the safety of our employees and guests is our top priority in every decision we make this year and we will continue to update you at each stage in the planning process.

To help us continue to prepare for winter, we look forward to receiving your commitment calendars for the 2020-21 season. The calendars are broken down below by employment status. For those of you who anticipate clients booking private lessons with you in advance of this season, it is imperative that you fill out your form as soon as possible to ensure your clients' requests are met.

Our Employee Commitment

Please take a moment to read a message to employees from Pat Campbell, President, Mountain Division and James O'Donnell, Executive Vice President, Hospitality, Retail & Real Estate.

"Over the last couple of weeks, we have outlined our vision for winter with our guests and shared that employee and dependent passes would be exempt from the guest reservations system. We know you have many more questions around safety protocols, changes to any benefits and perks for the season, plans for housing and how we will be handling employee events. We are providing this update to address many of those questions."

Inclusivity Resources

In an effort to work to create an inclusive community at Okemo, we are continuing our conversations as a team to understand the barriers that exist to making our resort and the outdoor recreation industry a welcoming community. We are making this one of our top priorities going into this winter and the future as a company. As we learn and grow together, Vail Resorts and Okemo encourage employees to explore inclusive diversity in the industry through shared resources and conversations. You can use this space to share winter inspiration and catch-up with each other. If you have specific questions for the management team, the best way to have your questions answered is still to email your manager or send an email to OKSkiandRideSchool@vailresorts.com.

For returning staff members without uniforms:

If you are a returning staff member who already returned your uniform at the end of last season, please stay tuned for more information from the Uniforms Department regarding new pick-up procedures and guidelines for this year. There will be new and returning staff members who are in need of uniforms, so we will make sure to share that information with you as soon as a safe plan has been shared.

For returning staff members with uniforms:

If you are a returning staff member planning on joining us for the 20-21 season, you may keep your uniform for the upcoming season. To help clean and waterproof your uniform for this winter, we will be providing you with Nikwax Tech Wash and TX.Direct individual packets, which will become available to you for pick-up at the resort soon. Your uniforms can be laundered in a residential washing machine. After washing your uniform, you can apply the provided waterproofing products.

For staff members who are not returning:

If you have decided not to return to Okemo for the 20-21 season, we ask that you return your uniform by September 18, 2020. Uniforms can be returned to the Cole House Employee Center Uniform Room drop slot, which is located just before the Jackson Gore Inn. Or uniforms can be mailed to the resort. If you mail your uniform, please use this address:
