Each year, Clemson University faculty, staff and student-athletes bring reading to life for first graders inside the Clemson Football Poe Indoor Practice Facility. It’s a capstone of a full year of academic work recognizing an entire community's effort to improve student reading statewide.

In the fast-paced world of higher education, business and leadership, we often wear our packed schedules and long hours as a badge of honor. We push through back-to-back meetings, strategize late into the night and tell ourselves we’ll “take a break when things slow down.”

Independence Day is almost here, a time when families and friends often gather for celebrations. Whether heading out for some fun water activities or grilling out at home, it’s important to keep safety in mind.

When Grace Drolet '25, a first-generation college student from Rock Hill, SC, arrived at Clemson University as a first-year student four years ago, she was not exactly sure what she wanted to do professionally, but she knew she wanted to help people.

Patrick Hiesl, associate professor of forest operations, said “The goal of forestry summer camp is to provide students with hands-on practical knowledge and the opportunity to see forestry activities across South Carolina and surrounding states.” 

The fellowship offers students immersive, service-learning experiences that deepen global awareness and foster careers dedicated to international development.
