Education savings accounts are just vouchers by another name. And they're bad for Texas families and communities. Here's what you need to know:

1. Vouchers give private schools, not parents, the right to choose. Private schools can select which students to admit, while public schools are for everyone. Meanwhile, parents who accept a voucher lose out on a long list of important rights.

2. They help kids who are already in private school the most. In states that have voucher programs, the majority of students who received a voucher were already enrolled in a private school.

3. Vouchers send taxpayer dollars to private institutions with no accountability. Public schools must follow strict accountability standards. Private schools do not have to meet the same standards.
