There are four pathways to compete at the NSDA National Tournament. How will you get there?
-
Main Event Qualification from Districts: Students can qualify in their main event via their district tournament. It's currently peak district season! Each district sets the dates for their competition. Check with your coach for details or explore the districts calendar to find out when your tournament is.
-
Main Event Qualification from the Last-Chance Qualifier: Students who do not qualify in their main event at districts have another chance to make it to Nationals in their main event via our online Last-Chance Qualifier April 24-26. Learn more or ask your coach to register you by April 17.
-
District World Schools Teams: Each district can send two teams of three to five students to compete in World Schools Debate at Nationals. Each district sets their own selection process, but if you're interested, talk to your coach or district chair. Learn more about World Schools Debate »
-
Supplemental Event Entries: Every member school has the opportunity to send two member students to compete in supplementals at the tournament. No qualification is required. Supplemental events start on Wednesday at the National Tournament. Check out the schedule for more details and access resources to get started with supplemental events. Supplementals include:
- Speech: Extemp Commentary, Original Spoken Word Poetry, Prose, Expository, Impromptu, Poetry, and Storytelling
