History in the making

The Association of Black Collegians (ABC) is a vibrant student-led organization that continually promotes growth and authenticity not only within the group but across campus as well. "We bring issues to the attention of those with power on campus and ensure that a safe space is available for Black students to freely express their personalities, thoughts and talents," said ABC President Erica McAlester. This February, ABC encourages the campus to partake in the numerous events scheduled to celebrate Black history.

Committed to excellence

Ensuring that Black law students are surrounded by a community that supports and invests in their success, education and goals is what makes organizations like the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) essential. "We prioritize the needs of Black law students by getting them connected with local attorneys, internship and externship opportunities," stated BLSA President Kayla Tunley (2L). BLSA is also a proponent of collaborating with other student-led law organizations to create an open-minded law school environment for Black students and allies.

Acquiring the arts

The University of Tulsa recently announced the acquisition of Mayfest and the Hardesty Arts Building located in downtown Tulsa. This purchase is a huge step in the right direction to further promote Tulsa's extraordinary flair for creativity. "We are proud to work with The University of Tulsa to ensure the building and Mayfest continue the commitment to art in Tulsa and the region," said Mendi Dunn, president of the Arts and Humanities Council.

A tale of two cities

The recently announced partnership between the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UALSP) and TU is expected to open many doors for students, staff and faculty. Its national reputation for its ABET-accredited engineering and medical programs, as well as being well known for strengths in the arts, humanities and social sciences makes UALSP and TU a perfect fit. "I am very excited about this partnership as it deepens a long-standing relationship between Tulsa and San Luis Potosí," said President Brad Carson.
