» Social Study: "I really wasn't sure about this at the start. Then a friend of mine said something that just made all kinds of sense. She said, 'Think of it more as a conversation.' I like that." And with those words and the hashtag #FriendsInNewPlaces, Garth Brooks joined Facebook Nov. 11 – the same day his new album Man Against Machine was released. Twitter came next, with the post of his first solo selfie (pictured) and a charming exchange with wife Trisha Yearwood. "Good morning, honey! Retweet me. :)," Yearwood logged. "Hey gorgeous!! Miss you this morning. Get back to me:)," Garth countered. See the Facebook video here and in the words of the man himself, "Let the conversation begin."

Other inductees include actress Alfre Woodard and Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Wanda Jackson, who will be presented for induction by Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert. Shelton will be presented by retired Oklahoma educator Larry Large, who was instrumental in moving Shelton to Nashville at age 17 and arranging his first showcase for music industry execs. "So unbelievable that I'm being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame tonight," Shelton posted on Facebook. "Man, they must be desperate! Ha! Truly is an honor."

» Right In Time: Carrie Underwood has long supported our U.S. military, performing on several USO tours through the years and most recently at The Concert For Valor (watch here). Further commemorating Veterans Day, she wrote an essay in Time magazine entitled "The Military Family That Changed How I Sing 'See You Again.'" "I remember talking to one brave girl and her mother," says Underwood. "They had bought tickets the second they went on sale for the whole family to come to my show. The girl's father was supposed to be home from deployment by the time the show rolled around. Tragically, he never made it." Underwood says the family used her song to ease the pain of their loss. "I am still amazed at how strong they both were," she adds. "They might have found a little comfort in one of my songs. But because of their story and the many others like it that I have heard since, I’ll never sing that song the same way again." Read the full article.
