July 30 - Turning Committees into Action Teams!

This is the first of our monthly “Club Focus” meetings, where we put a light on what our club does, who does it, and why! We will be covering the work our club does by various committees, but also making the change from Committees (boring) to our new definition, Action Teams! We are a club of action, that “Gets things done, while having fun!” This meeting will help us focus on the who/what/why, as well as hopefully filling a couple of newly vacated Board Positions. We will also be awarding our first Rotarian of the Month prize at this meeting, as well as talking about sourcing “Rotary Swag,” to help generate interest and pride in Rotary.

District Disaster Relief Fund Live Now!
As we are all aware, Forest Fire Season is upon us once again. Our District Leadership has put a new Disaster Relief Fun together to help areas (and clubs) hit by recent fires.
From our District Governor, Bruce Allen:
"Both Madras and Prineville areas in Oregon have become severe fire zones and the time to help is becoming imminent! The D5110 Disaster Relief Fund now has a QR code that has gone live for people who wish to donate. It can also be found on our District Website. Donate today!"

To make your monthly, quarterly, semiannual, or annual payments, go to the Member Page on our Club website and select your payment method.
PLEASE NOTE: If you previously set up automatic payments, they may have been canceled, and you will need to set them up again at the new rate. If you aren't sure, contact deanna@uplinkspyder.com.
If paying by credit card, please also select the fee payment option.
ALSO: If you are NOT setting up autopay, make sure you select "one time."

Volunteer Profile of the Month
Our projects require many helping hands, and often some of our most frequent and reliable volunteers come from outside of our club. This month we profile Penny Klein.
Penny Klein is a volunteer with Eugene Southtowne's signature Food Box program. Penny is the go-to person, helping put the finishing touches on boxes being readied for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. She has been volunteering since 2021, after meeting the program's leader, Rotarian Camille Ronzio. She describes everyone involved in this project as kind, welcoming, good-natured, and big-hearted. She describes herself as friendly, conscientious, and creative.

The daughter of a Rotarian, she was born in Los Angeles and raised in Burbank, CA. She has an older brother and younger twin brothers. After finishing college in SoCal, she moved to Oregon with her boyfriend/now husband, Glenn, who attended law school at the UO. She earned her teaching certificate and Master's in education. She taught in elementary schools in Eugene and Salem for about fourteen years before they adopted two children.
She is a volunteer for Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and Bags of Love, among others. She enjoys sewing and quilting. She made her children's Halloween costumes for many years!

from 4 - 5 pm at The Springs at Greer Gardens in Eugene.
