Dear Tritons,
With the start of Winter Quarter 2022 next week, we just wanted to check in – and provide some reminders and updates to help ease into the new year.
Remote Student Resources
Because the quarter will begin with
two weeks of remote-only instruction to stave off the post-holiday spread of COVID-19 in our community, we’ve compiled a list of
remote student services and resources to ensure that all Tritons are able to
stay active and engaged during this period of gradual campus repopulation. Your Undergraduate College Dean of Student Affairs or your Graduate Coordinator are also a great resource.
11,000 and Counting
You did it! More than 11K of you have taken the plunge during the initial
Boostin’ Out for Basic Needs challenge, meaning that an additional
$50,000 in funding will be allocated to support the health and well-being of all Tritons. Let’s keep up the good work. If you’re eligible, get boosted now, and stay tuned for details on the next phase of the challenge. We’re here to support all Tritons in getting boosted!
Required Return to Campus Testing Schedule
In case you missed it,
yesterday’s campus notice outlined the testing requirements that are in place for the start of Winter Quarter 2022. In short:
- It is strongly recommended that all students get tested in the 48 hour-period ahead of their return to campus.
- Rapid antigen testing will be made available to on-campus residents arriving after Jan. 7 for self-administration 24 hours prior to arrival.
- It is required that all students, regardless of vaccination status, complete a PCR test on the day of their return to campus.
What We’ve Learned
Your favorite newsletter’s favorite newsletter will return during Week 1 of next quarter, on Jan. 7. Don’t get excited, be excited.
Addressing Pandemic Anxiety
We understand that worrying is part and parcel of a pandemic. With that in mind, consider taking advantage of
CalHOPE, a free crisis support/chat-line resource that’s designed to
de-escalate COVID anxiety by offering emotional support to those with pandemic-related worries about the future.
If you need assistance, we encourage you to give them a call at 833-317-4673 (HOPE).
For More Information
Thank you, Tritons. We'll get through this together.
Be well,
Alysson M. Satterlund
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
P.S. Be kind to yourself and to others. Small acts of kindness and generosity will make the next few weeks a bit less stressful.
