The 39th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration honored the legacy of Dr. King and the impact he has made on those who carry the torch for humanity. This year's theme was "Responsibility," with keynote speaker Harvey Fields, founding dean at Harris-Stowe State University's College of STEM.
Our Learning Center colleague, Da’Juantay Wynter, a 2026 Washington University graduate, John B. Ervin Scholar, and undergraduate representative to the Board of Trustees, delivered the student keynote address.
Wynter serves as a Senate member in the Student Union and a Learning Center Academic Skills Peer Coach. He is on the Black Anthology Executive Board, part of the Student Affairs Advisory Board and National and Faculty Library Council student representatives and collaborated with Phi Delta Phi Pre-Law Fraternity and the Dining Service Advisory Team.
He also attended the Harvard Public Policy Leadership Conference and is a Stanford Law Scholar.
The Commemoration took place at Graham Chapel on the Washington University Danforth Campus. The program included remarks from Chancellor Martin and other university leaders, student performances, and community service awards.
