Door County 4-H Newsletter |
Hello Door County 4-H Families and Volunteers!
Welcome to September and the start of a new 4-H year! Congratulations to everyone who exhibited at the 2025 Door County Fair! There were so many amazing projects and animals and it was easy to see the hard work and dedication put into all of them. I heard many positive comments on how respectful and helpful Door County 4-H members were - you should all be very proud! And thank you to everyone who helped in or supported the 4-H Dairy Bar - this fundraiser would not be nearly as successful without all of you!
Now that we have made it through the Fair, it is time for the new 4-H year to begin! Enrollment officially begins today, September 4th, and you will find all of the information about enrollment and more in this newsletter. I encourage you to re-enroll soon so that you do not miss out on any important information and so that you get the most out of your 4-H membership.
If you know of anyone who is interested in joining 4-H, be sure to invite them to a meeting or share information on how to join. And I am always happy to answer questions!

Volunteer Enrollment Information:
A huge thank you to all of our 4-H Club Leaders and Volunteers - we could not do this without you! A few notes for anyone interested in being a volunteer for Door County 4-H:
-All returning volunteers need to re-enroll in 4HOnline by November 1st and have all background checks and trainings complete by December 1st. This is to help ensure that all adults working with youth are approved volunteers and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our 4-H members and our volunteers!
-Volunteer trainings have been updated! There is now one required training for all new and returning volunteers that must be completed each year. This can be accessed in your 4HOnline account. If you need a paper version, please reach out to the Extension Office. If you watch the training with a group, please let Candis know so that we can ensure all volunteers get credit for completing their trainings.

This summer, Door County 4-H/Extension Door County had the pleasure of having an AmeriCorps member who served our program - with the goal of providing support to the 4-H program and offering ways to reach new, more, and different youth within our community. Josie Kinnard, a recent graduate from DePere High School and a Door County 4-H member, joined us at the beginning of June and completed her term of Service on August 21st. During her time with Door County 4-H, Josie worked with the Door County 4-H Educator to plan and implement programming at the Boys & Girls Club – where they taught the members about chickens and hatched chicks, planned future Door County 4-H programming, and helped during the Door County Fair.
Door County 4-H was excited to participate in the AmeriCorps program this summer and appreciated all that Josie did during her time with us. Josie will be attending the University of Wisconsin – River Falls this Fall to major in Dairy Science. We wish her the best in her future endeavors!
