Tiny Tots are on another wild adventure! This month, they're exploring animals around the world, including learning the letter "C" as in "Catina Cat." Using bingo blotters, they decorated a capital C while practicing Zoo Phonics, a multisensory program that connects letters with movements and sounds to build early literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. Tiny Tots is filling quickly for the upcoming school year, schedule your EC tour today!

Our students had a thrilling visit from Nature Educator, Sheila Gregory, who enhanced their "Animals Around the World" theme! Sheila captivated our young learners with an interactive and engaging program about South Carolina’s venomous snakes - featuring museum-quality replicas and hands-on artifacts like a rattlesnake rattle, snake eggs, and shed snake skin.
The highlight of the experience? Meeting Sheila’s live, non-venomous snake friends! Students (and some brave staff members) even had the exciting opportunity to see, touch, and learn about three new snake friends:
🐍 Mortimer, the Ball Python
🐍 Wigglesworth, the Apricot Milk Snake
🐍 Minerva, the Fancy Corn Snake
Second graders teamed up with middle school leaders to explore the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s impact on society. They discussed peaceful protests, equality, and how small actions can create change. With guidance from their older peers, students wrote ideas for improving their community on cutouts of footsteps featuring MLK’s quote: "Just take the first step." They then placed their footprints outside, creating a path to symbolize their commitment to helping others and making a difference - one step at a time.
In honor of Hebrew Language Day, lower school students got creative by inventing new Hebrew words for English terms that don’t have a direct translation. After choosing their words, they baked letter-shaped cookies to spell them out, making language learning both fun AND delicious!

Here are some of their clever creations:
🔹 מדהימות (Madhimut) – Extravaganza
🔹 לרכות (Lirkut) – Squish
🔹 אישוכל (Ish-ochel) – Foodie (Ish – person + Ochel – food)
🔹 פטרוץ (Pitrutz) – Small talk (Pitput – chatter + Ritza – running)

Their words were submitted to a global competition organized by the World Zionist Organization (WZO), and the winners will be chosen by The Academy of the Hebrew Language in Jerusalem. Let's wish our students בהצלחה (good luck)!

We chose AHA because they acknowledge and recognize kindness as much as academics. This was demonstrated during a recent safety drill where our daughter helped comfort a friend who was feeling nervous, she earned a sticker for showing compassion! I am so grateful at how the school partners with parents to raise good humans!
We love being a part of a school community that rewards kindness, teaches the importance of friendships, and creates trust in those who care for us.
