A Place To Belong
This month, Lorna Hernandez Jarvis, Ph.D., started her new role as vice president of institutional equity and diversity. Hernandez Jarvis comes to Puget Sound from Whitworth College, where she served as chief diversity officer and associate vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion. A trained cognitive psychologist, her research into language development and bilingualism introduced her to issues of inequity and sparked an interest that led to a career in institutional diversity and inclusion. In addition to being an educator and administrator, Hernandez Jarvis was a professional ballet dancer with the National Ballet Company of Mexico. She and her husband have two children who are also professional dancers.
