Today, campus announced that the spring 2021 semester will begin on Jan. 14 and campus will continue to offer a modified, in-person/remote academic experience. We’re also sharing key updates to address a number of lessons learned this fall.

We appreciate the resiliency our students have shown as we have faced this pandemic as a Buff community. As we head into spring semester, we plan to offer a more robust campus experience.

Campus leadership will be hosting a Spring Semester Town Hall, Friday, Oct. 23. Learn more about class modalities, the spring academic calendar and campus life. Join us via Zoom at 11 a.m. MDT. 
 
Spring semester town hall County increases allowable gathering size under public health order
Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) announced that as of noon on Oct. 20, the county is moving to the baseline level, which is less restrictive, of the current public health order on gatherings for 18-to-22-year-olds. People in this age group are permitted to join gatherings of up to 10 people. This is the same guideline that currently applies to people of all ages in Boulder County. View the full announcement. Reminder about spring registration Spring registration begins soon
Spring 2021 registration begins Nov. 9, by appointment. Your student’s enrollment dates can be found in their student portal, where they can also find out if they have any holds preventing them from registering. If they do have holds on their registration, they should complete them as soon as possible. Learn more about registration.
 
Navigating changes How to help your student navigate changes
This year has come with a lot of adjustments. Whether your student is navigating new guidelines, getting used to a new course schedule/format, a new residence off campus or a new job or internship, big changes can cause additional stress (even for things that are positive). It’s common to struggle with change and uncertainty, and it’s important to recognize that the process looks different for everyone. Here are tips to help you support your student navigate change effectively.

Encourage your students to join us for Halloween events! Events will be both in person and virtual and they are a great way for them to connect with fellow Buffs while having some fun. Learn more about Halloween events
 
Tough conversations Having tough conversations
As our students begin to make their way home for an extended fall break, it’s important to remember that this is as much of an adjustment for them as it is for us. Spending time with family can be as stressful as it is enjoyable, especially in times like these. Remember that it’s possible to both love our students and disagree with them. This type of conflict is normal and doesn’t necessarily need to be resolved. Here are some tips to help you get through and make the most of tough conversations
