Deaf Access Services Celebrates 40 Years!

A New Era at People Inc.
Our new President and CEO, Anne McCaffrey, arrived in March and has hit the ground running, to say the least! Anne has been meeting with stakeholders and with many of our 4,000+ employees, including a live video conference with the entire agency on her first day.  

With a background as the former Mayor of the City of Lockport and then President of Eastern Niagara Hospital, jumping into advocating for budgetary changes to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a natural fit for her.   

Anne is working with the Senior Leadership Team to get out to as many of our locations as possible. And if you see her around the Buffalo, Niagara or Rochester areas, be sure to say hello!

Southampton Street Community Cleanup
On Saturday, May 13, People Inc. was proud to take part in a Great American Cleanup alongside Home Beneath Our Feet, a local nonprofit organization founded by People Inc. team member Dwight Lowe. Nearly 30 volunteers worked together to mow lawns, pick up trash and support our community in the Jefferson-Southampton area. Check out the People Inc. Facebook album.

From increased self-confidence and critical thinking skills to developing character and a sense of teamwork, athletics give people of all abilities the tools they need to thrive and increase their physical fitness. No one knows this better than Special Olympics, a nonprofit organization that offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train and compete in authentic, quality sports.

On Wednesday, May 17, our Contract Manufacturing team was honored to receive a 2023 Manufacturing Award from Buffalo Business First in the Workforce Innovation and Training Category. People Inc. President and CEO Anne McCaffrey and Contract Manufacturing Production Lead Jeremy Little accepted the award.

Deaf Access Services
Celebrates 40 Years
Deaf Access Services, a program of People Inc., celebrated in style in April, with a fabulous fund-raising and friend-raising event on the stage at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre. 
The program supports Deaf and hard of hearing people in Western New York through services such as American Sign Language, education, community training, community navigation services, refugee and immigration services, and more.  
With the theme “Be the Light,” a sold-out crowd was treated to speakers, awards, and raffles.
