NIH Reminder: Switch Early to the New Secure Two-Factor Authentication Required to Access eRA Modules
Users of eRA Commons, ASSIST, Internet Assisted Review (IAR), and Commons Mobile are encouraged to switch to the new two-factor authentication (2FA) login method (via login.gov) required to access eRA modules before the mandatory deadline of September 15, 2021, for all users. New, State-of-the-art Equipment Expands Opportunities for Research Across UM System The equipment housed at Missouri S&T was acquired with funding through Tier 1 of the UM System’s Research and Creative Works Strategic Investment Program
Researchers in materials science, chemistry, physics, biomedicine, and other disciplines will have expanded capabilities with the addition of $6 million in the latest equipment at Missouri S&T. The equipment is available for researchers across the University of Missouri System, which includes S&T and the campuses in Columbia, Kansas City, and St. Louis, as well as external users from companies and other institutions.
The centerpiece is a $4 million dual-beam instrument that incorporates a scanning electron microscope and a plasma-focused ion beam that enables researchers to deposit or remove materials on the nanoscale and examine what is below the original surface of the specimen without removing it from the microscope. UMSL Qualitative Workshop

PRESENTER: Dr. Sujin Kim, an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at George Mason University.
TOPIC: "Analyzing embodied semiosis: Making sense of multimodal and transmodal literacy data"
Literacy educators in the 21st century are increasingly moving away from the monolingual norms of teaching language and literacy skills towards translingual and multimodal frameworks to recognize the diverse languages – or languaging practices, voices, identities, and agents of meaning-making. When humans alone do not account for all the layered complexities of a semiosis of a space, how can we make sense of its semiotic processes or embodied semiosis beyond the ethnographic notations of human agents’ perceptions and interpretations? How can we understand the interaction among semiotic agents, both human and non-human, in creating semiosis or assemblages through collaborative becoming and agencing? This workshop will address how the diverse affordances and interactions of spatial repertoires or community repertoires are analyzed through multimodal discourse analysis through two case studies in a family literacy project and a content literacy classroom.

Your tech transfer staff work to analyze the technology regarding intellectual property protection and the market need to determine whether patent applications should be filed and/or copyrights should be registered. For those inventions that can be protected (and even some that cannot), we then look for potential industry partners, which could include established companies and/or startup ventures, to license and commercialize the discovery.
We also process all Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), and research-related fee-for-service agreements, among others, for UMSL.
