Peter Wimberger
Professor Peter Wimberger is fascinated by the complexity of the natural world, whether he’s studying the impact of birdfeeders on the evolution of hummingbird size or investigating how beaver dams can help wetland restoration efforts. In addition to teaching courses in evolutionary and conservation biology, he also serves as director of University of Puget Sound’s Slater Museum of Natural History. We recently caught up with Wimberger to discuss his current research, the museum’s outreach efforts, and how students can get involved.

Booster Proof Due Today
As announced in December, COVID-19 booster shots are required for campus members who do not have an approved vaccination exemption. Today is the deadline to upload your proof of receiving a booster shot. Students who are out of compliance with this requirement will be contacted directly by Counseling, Health, and Wellness Services; faculty and staff members will be contacted by human resources.

Rubber ducks in an inflatable kiddie pool

RANDOM ACT OF FUN Campus members visiting Wheelock Student Center last week were surprised to discover that about 20 rubber ducks—and one grand-prize golden duck—had been hidden throughout the building for The Great Duck Scavenger Hunt of 2022. Lucky Loggers who found ducks during the hunt and returned them to their "pond" at the Info Center won free slices and shakes/smoothies from The Cellar. This was the second surprise activity of the semester in Wheelock (the first was hallway bowling a few weeks ago), and we’re already looking forward to what’s coming next!
