Dear Colleagues:
Ball State has many current students, faculty, and staff who, amid our Summer semester, are hard at work on campus. Over the coming weeks, we anticipate thousands of incoming students and their families will visit our beautiful campus for freshman orientation and informational visits and tours.
We are sharing a change in our health and safety protocols that pertains to every individual on our campus.
If you are fully vaccinated, you will no longer be required to wear a face mask while outside at Ball State University. This update is consistent with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and will be effective June 1.
Any person who is not fully vaccinated must continue to wear a face mask while outside. The policy for wearing a mask inside any campus building remains unchanged. The face mask policy is available in the Student and Employee COVID-19 Response Plans.
Our policy change emphasizes the benefit for all members of our campus community to get vaccinated. As we substantially increase the number of fully vaccinated people who are teaching, working, learning, socializing, and living on our campus, additional changes to our health and safety protocols become more viable.
We anticipate other adjustments to our health and safety protocols before August 1. We will communicate changes as we make them.
For all of our employees, students and visitors, we are excited for a vibrant Summer at Ball State. And we are grateful to everyone in our campus community who has already done their part to help protect our campus community, including getting vaccinated.
