| Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Information Sessions: Jan. 22 and Jan. 23 |
The City of Boulder is exploring the formation of a Downtown Development Authority (DDA) - a special district that could provide long-term funding for public space improvements, business support, and community programs in our central business areas.
Information sessions will take place on Jan. 22 and 23, with a virtual option on Jan. 26, to explain how DDAs work in Colorado, outline the formation process, and present potential focus areas for participants to react to through an interactive activity.
Who Should Attend: The preliminary DDA study area covers Downtown Boulder, Alpine-Balsam, University Hill, and the stretch of Broadway connecting these areas. Business owners, property owners and residents in this area are encouraged to attend.
In-Person Sessions (held at Room N101 at Penfield Tate II, 1777 Broadway, Boulder, CO):
|
- Thursday, Jan. 22 (8 a.m., 12 p.m., 5 p.m.)
- Friday, Jan. 23 (8 a.m., 12 p.m.)

Downtown Maintenance and Construction Updates |
15th & Pearl Street Garage Maintenance:
The City of Boulder is working on two important repair projects at the 15th & Pearl Garage.
Elevator Landing Repairs
Emergency work is underway to remove and replace the concrete landings on Levels 4, 5 and 6 of the north stairwells. Stair access in this area will be temporarily limited during construction.
Access During Construction
Parking access will remain open, and pedestrians can continue to reach third-floor tenant spaces through the main entrances during regular hours.
Please note: On Monday, Dec. 15, the north stairway and elevators will be closed (weather dependent). The Parking & Access Office will also be inaccessible to the public that day. For assistance, contact parkingservices@bouldercolorado.gov.
Some noise and dust are expected throughout the project period. For the most current construction updates, visit the city’s website.
Facade Restoration
In 2026, crews will start replacing sections of the stone facade around the building’s perimeter.
11th Street and Canyon Boulevard Stormwater Project:
The City of Boulder has completed work to line the existing storm pipe beneath Canyon Boulevard, extending the pipe’s lifespan and helping prevent future disruptions. This upgrade is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve stormwater infrastructure, support stream health and reduce long-term impacts to the roadway.

Volunteer for a City of Boulder Board or Commission |
The City of Boulder is seeking volunteers to serve on its boards and commissions. These groups play a vital role in advising City Council and shaping the policies that guide our community’s future. Meetings are offered in a hybrid format, and members receive an EcoPass for unlimited rides on RTD trains and buses.
This year, the city is looking for new members for the Boulder Urban Renewal Authority (BURA), which helps facilitate targeted investment and revitalization projects to support a strong, healthy economy. BURA reviews urban renewal studies and proposed urban renewal areas, plans and projects; makes recommendations about the use of urban renewal tools; and provides input to the City Manager on redevelopment issues.
BURA is expanding to ten commissioners appointed by the mayor (with City Council approval) and three representing local taxing authorities. Most commissioners serve five-year terms, though four new seats will have 1- to 4-year terms.
Applications are open until Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026. See the website for requirements and vacancies. To learn more, meet current members, and ask questions, join the Open House on Jan. 5 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the East Boulder Community Center. Visit the city’s Boards and Commissions webpage for details.
