UCSD and SDSU Awarded National Cancer Institute (NCI) U54 Grant: CREATE
|
A collaborative team of investigators from UC San Diego (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) have been awarded a $12.5M grant from the NCI to support the Cancer Research and Education to Advance HealTh Equity (CREATE) Partnership. CREATE will expand the emphasis of both SDSU and UCSD on cancer health disparities research in San Diego and Imperial Counties. CREATE will foster research projects and community outreach efforts to reduce the regional cancer burden of lung, breast, gastrointestinal, prostate, and cervical cancers. In addition, CREATE will provide cancer research opportunities and pathways for not only undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, but also early-stage faculty. Built on the Community-to-Bench model, CREATE will ensure intentional bi-directional community engagement for all its activities. CREATE Principle Investigators are Hala Madanat and Richard Cripps at SDSU and Elena Martinez and James Murphy at UCSD. Congratulations!
