Note from the Dean
Each year, we highlight a learning theme to further enhance the student experience. This year, the theme is Organizational Culture, a topic of great interest in many organizations. Students from across the school have been reading about and discussing culture, and they have heard from thought leaders on the theme as well (check out my recent blog post from our Executive Fireside Chat series).
Culture has been a prominent theme at Owen as the number of in-person activities grows. Our close-knit and collaborative culture is a key element of our mission, and each team, class, and co-curricular programming event provides students with an opportunity to contribute to it.
I want to express my gratitude for Owen’s supportive alumni community, which contributes to our school’s culture in so many ways. Our boards, including the Alumni Board, Asia Alumni Board, and Board of Visitors—are hard at work, helping us move the school ahead. We welcome a fantastic new group of alumni to the Alumni Board this fall (see below)—please join me in thanking them!
Best,
Eric

The Stoll Family Invites You to Celebrate the Life of Hans-Reiner Stoll
The Owen community is invited to celebrate Hans-Reiner Stoll on Saturday, October 9, at 2 pm CT at Vanderbilt University’s Benton Chapel. Margie Stoll says, “When Hans died in March 2020, our plan was to hold off on a memorial/celebration of life service until we could give him the type of remembrance he deserved. However, here it is a year and a half later, and “normalcy” has not yet returned. Therefore, we have decided to proceed with a service that may be attended either in person, adhering to the Vanderbilt Covid protocols that are in place on October 9, or attended virtually through a streaming link that will be made available closer to the event date. Following the service, there will be an Oktoberfest gathering. And please feel free to leave your tie at home.” RSVP and find out gathering details by emailing Margie Stoll at Margie_stoll@yahoo.com.
