Dear Adrian College Football Alumni, Family, and Friends,
Today is Giving Tuesday, a global day of philanthropy facilitated by social media and fueled by your generosity. In honor of this special day, we hope you will continue to support the Adrian College Football program. Your support facilitates our student-athletes to experience success both in the classroom and on the field. Our team is motivated to build on our past accomplishments and strive to achieve bigger goals in the future.
Your Bulldogs completed the 2022 campaign at 6-4, the first winning season since 2015. The team boasts many individual and team accomplishments. The Bulldogs landed seven players as All-MIAA selections. Four defensive players earned All-Conference honors; defensive lineman DeAndre Ford and linebacker Kyle Minder were named 1st team selections, while defensive backs Jimerie Cannon and Brandon Kwiatkowski were listed as 2nd team selections. Offensively there were three selections, all 2nd team nominees; tight end Tyler Porier, offensive lineman Jonathan Sasiela, and wide receiver Keonte Townsend.
The offense led by coach Harry Bailey was powered by a rushing attack that totaled 2,056 yards on the season with an average of 205 yards rushing per game. The Bulldog offense finished the season with 27 rushing touchdowns, the second highest in the MIAA.
Defensively the Bulldogs finished the season ranked #1 in the MIAA led by coordinator Martin Mathis, his first year with the program. Under his leadership, the defense pitched 2 shutouts in victories over Olivet and Hanover. Notable statistics for the season include 20 interceptions, 20 sacks, and an average of a stout 68 rushing yards allowed per game. The defense was supported by newcomer coaches Jeff Harris, Jacob Hankish, Alex Bellfy, and Steve Hankish.
In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we would like to announce the continuation of our annual June Football golf outing, which returned in 2022. We had an incredible turnout to last year's event at Wolf Creek Golf Club. We were thrilled to see so many alumni, parents, and friends of the program show their support and we hope to see many of you back next summer!
We send you this update as we ask for your support this Giving Tuesday. Your generosity will support our student athletes as they continue to grow and develop on and off the field. Gifts from this years #GivingTuesday will go towards new white game pants and gameday travel suits for our players.
Thank you for your continued support! Best wishes for a happy holiday season!
Go Bulldogs!
Sincerely,
Jim Deere ‘89
