Summer STEM At-Home!

Engage your kids' minds throughout the summer with these FUN weekly at-home STEM projects!

Oobleck is Here!

Oobleck is a classic science experiment that's perfect for entertaining both kids and adults. If you haven't seen it in action it's very fascinating stuff! Before too long you'll have your hands covered with it, happily making a mess that can be washed away with water.

Oobleck is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands. Make enough Oobleck and you can even walk on it!
What you will need:
  • Water
  • Cornstartch
  • A Container
  • Food Coloring (optional)
Try This Experiment at Home!

hear from Andy Tzanidakis!

Andy Tzanidakis is a second-year Ph.D. astronomy student at the University of Washington. His scientific interests involve studying the transient night sky, particularly focusing on extreme stellar populations and what they can teach us about stellar evolution. Andy is also interested in the early science production of the forthcoming the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy of Space and Time (LSST) survey which will be one of the deepest and longest time-domain surveys. Andy is particularly very passionate about using data science, software development, and innovative data visualization techniques to further understand our understanding of the universe. He is also an advocate for equitable and new methods of communicating science to the general public.
