On Fire with the Spirit: Junior Young Friends Gather at Sandy Spring Meeting |
Last weekend, more than a dozen Junior Young Friends gathered at Sandy Spring Monthly Meeting. Junior Young Friends (JYFs) is BYM's youth program for middle schoolers - who gather several times each year for an overnight, "lock-in"-style conference. Under the supervision of BYM's Youth Programs Manager and trained, volunteer Friendly Adult Mentors (FAM), the JYFs participated in a workshop to learn how to use flint and steel as well as magnifying glasses to start a fire. JYFs and their FAM made s'mores after successfully starting a fire with the magnifying class. They also had a blast visiting the historic Sandy Spring itself and using the trails that surround the area. Thank you to Sandy Spring Friends Meeting for their generous hospitality! If your Junior Young Friend is interested in joining the next "JYF Con," contact Sunshine Klein, Youth Programs Manager, at SunshineKlein@bym-rsf.org

| Help Plan Future Annual Sessions as a Member of Program Committee!
|
Program Committee has a good time putting together Annual Sessions every year. Want to join our team? Program Committee develops the theme and invites speakers and coordinates the bookstore, workshops, and interest groups. We work with the office, the Registrar, the Junior Yearly Meeting coordinator, Religious Education Committee, and Ministry and Counsel to pull everything together from dorm room assignments to Bible Study groups. We publish the daily minute and assist with whatever comes up during Annual Sessions. If you are interested in joining us or have a name of someone you think would be good for Program Committee, please contact Nominating Committee.
