Congratulating Club Award Winners
Each year the NSDA recognizes schools with Club Awards based on the degrees they earned in our Honor Society. Club Awards are based on school strength. For example, the 100 Club recognizes schools with a strength of more than 100 points in the prior school year. The 200 Club honors schools that earned 200 strength points; and so on. The higher the strength, the higher the Club designation. Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Club Award winners!

How an NSDA Coach Helped Miranda Lambert Shine
Speech and debate teachers and coaches across the country help students find their voice and confidence. Those lessons last a lifetime, just like how NSDA Hall of Fame coach Janice Caldwell helped Miranda Lambert go from “the shyest kid ever” to a superstar. Janice has spent her career helping students step into their own spotlight. We celebrate all coaches who lift up the next generation of leaders. For more stories like this, follow the NSDA on social!

Nominate a Hall of Fame Coach by February 16
The highest honor for any high school speech and debate coach is election to the NSDA Hall of Fame. Each year, nominations are sought from member coaches. Individuals with 25 years of NSDA coach membership prior to the start of the National Tournament, or who are retired from coaching and teaching, are eligible for this prestigious award. In addition, a Hall of Fame Legend is a coach or non-coach adult who is worthy of consideration for this high honor. Any coach, student, alum, or speech and debate supporter may nominate an individual for consideration. Submit a nomination by February 16.

Teach Students the Basics of NSDA Membership
The new Intro to NSDA Student Membership course is a video series for students, by students that introduces the essential elements of speech and debate. Students can enroll and complete the course on our website at their leisure, where they'll receive a certificate upon completion that they can turn in to you to demonstrate their participation. You could also choose video clips from the YouTube playlist to add to your new student onboarding for second semester!
