Location: Alexandria Mega Shelter
RECIPE for Rural STEM Day is proudly sponsored by the Region 3, 6, and 8 LaSTEM Centers and hosted by LSUA. Last year, we welcomed more than 1,200 students, and this year promises to be even bigger!
Designed for 5th and 6th graders, the event features electrifying hands-on activities that will spark curiosity and ignite a passion for learning!

Santa’s Cookie Experiment! |
Santa loves milk and cookies, but which cookie holds up best in milk? Kids will use STEM skills to test Oreos, chocolate chip, and ginger cookies by dunking them in milk, making observations, and drawing conclusions. It’s a fun and tasty way to blend holiday cheer with science while helping Santa enjoy the perfect treat!

Funding Opportunity: Gulf Research Program |
The National Academies’ Gulf Research Program (GRP) is offering up to $5M available to support projects that engage K-8 children and youth in place-based educational activities that foster the development of scientific and environmental skills, competencies, and capabilities that are critical to solving complex issues in the Gulf now and into the future.
This opportunity supports nonprofit, state, and local organizations. Proposals can request $100,000 to $750,000 for projects lasting up to 3 years, with a cap of 20% on overhead charges.
