View the current schedule of events here. More events will be added in the coming week.

Duke Parents Advisory Council (DPAC) Applications Coming Soon

DPAC plays an instrumental role within the University by providing feedback, support, and counsel throughout the academic year.
The recruitment process for our incoming class typically occurs each summer. This year, applications for the next cycle will open sometime this fall when senior leadership has the capacity to review applications. When the application opens, we'll make an announcement to our Class of 2024 families and update the DPAC website

Virtual Send-Off Parties

Send-Off Parties are an opportunity for incoming students and families to meet classmates and alumni from your geographic area.
Although we are not having traditional in-person Send-Off Parties this year, we're excited to launch live experiences for students and families to access from home! Here's the schedule of virtual events happening throughout the summer.

Housing Updates

Fall Housing and Move-In

Housing and Residence Life (HRL) is committed to providing an experience and environment that supports the learning, health, and safety of students on campus.
On July 10, HRL sent out an email with another update about Duke's housing plans for the fall semester, which includes details about the move-in process, dates, registration, and expectations.  On Friday, first-year housing assignments were also shared with students through their Duke email and another email went out to families with a housing recap.
First-year student move-in is August 7-August 10. Testing time periods during move-in will be 8am-4pm daily. Testing times will be offered every five minutes with a set number of spots available during each five minute period. HRL is expected to announce the sign-up process for a testing time later this week.
For more Fall 2020 housing details, visit the Duke Housing landing page and FAQ. If your family still has further questions about housing, please email housing@duke.edu.

Housing Webinar

Keep your eyes out for more information about an upcoming first-year family webinar. This live session will be an opportunity to hear more from campus leadership about the housing assignments process and residence hall safety measures this year.
Date, time, and registration information will be shared with families shortly.

Campus Resource Spotlights

Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) offers many services to Duke students, including individual, group, and couples counseling and more. CAPS helps students enhance their strengths while developing abilities to successfully live, grow, and learn in their personal and academic lives.
The video below was produced in partnership with CAPS to prepare families for some of the changes your student is about to face. We encourage you to think critically about how to best support your student during their transition to college. Click below to watch the video.

DukeReach

If you ever have behavioral, mental, or physical health concerns about your student during their undergraduate years on campus, DukeReach is available to help. They support students, parents, faculty, staff, and others by connecting individuals to resources that best support our students.
