"On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Marshall Fundamental Financial Literacy, Rock the Street Wall Street (RTSWS) Club members; Katelyn C., Eunbee (Grace) A., and Tehilah O.; the Club Champions, Ms. Ardon (and Ms. Kealing); and Mentor Kelly Klopping of First Citizens Bank were participants in the Pasadena Educational Foundation’s --- Celebrate Our School Student Showcase Event hosted at the Pasadena City Hall Courtyard.
As participants in the Student Showcase, the goal was to engage guests quickly and efficiently on RTSWS's financial and investment literacy program and how it is designed to bring both gender and racial equity to the financial markets and spark the interest of high school girls into careers in finance. The team created “Conversation Starters”, more specific questions for the guests to initiate engagement.
As the Conversation Starters were read, the students were confident and concise with their answers and started discussions on why they would recommend RTSWS to other students, schools, champions, and financial institutions, what they learned from each session, how they will use their new knowledge of finances in their future, and what were the most impactful moments they experienced through the program.
Mentor Kelly Klopping stated, “I was beaming with pride while watching the students discuss their experiences, share the materials from RTSWS, and pass out pins and stickers for more awareness for the program.”
Overall, we felt the students met their goal of introducing RTSWS to others with hopes other PUSD schools and other financial institutions will garner interest in being a part of this program."
