Now that everyone's settled into the new school year, why not join us for a webinar on TRSL reporting topics? These upcoming webinars only last about 30 minutes and are a great opportunity to train new staff or refresh your knowledge:
  • Nov. 18 - Sick leave certification
  • Dec. 9 - Questionable years
  • Jan. 13 - Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)
REGISTER here today to reserve your virtual seat. You’ll receive a confirmation via email as a reminder, along with instructions on how to access the session. If you need more information, contact retire.edu@trsl.org
Do you have employees retiring under ILSB?

If you have employees retiring under the Initial Lump Sum Benefit (ILSB) option, remind them they will not automatically receive a lump-sum payment. They will need to designate a withdrawal method for their ILSB by submitting the appropriate form:
NOTE: Members choosing a lump sum of at least 85% will need to have their retirement finalized before the deposit is made into their ILSB account at TRSL.
For more important DROP and ILSB withdrawal information, please read DROP/ILSB Account Withdrawals and Special Tax Notice
STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Paula Rhodes - ORP Program Manager
TRSL administers the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) which is available to academic and unclassified staff employed in higher education. Paula Rhodes is our ORP program manager and works as a liaison between the three ORP vendors and participating universities.
She provides resources to employers, such as assisting with or leading presentations about the retirement plan, and ensures ORP participants receive quality customer service.
If you have questions for Paula, you can contact her at paula.rhodes@trsl.org or at 225-925-6446, ext. 7863.
HIGHER ED... MEET ED! In the coming months, Ed Branagan, TRSL's Employer Services Manager will be visiting the staff of higher education personnel departments to introduce himself and discuss how the Employer Service Department can be of service to you. Be on the lookout for a message from Ed to schedule a visit!
Who are your TRSL liaisons?
There’s an easy- to-use search feature on TRSL’s website that lets you quickly find the contact information for your assigned analyst and accountant. This tool can be found in the red "Employers" section; under "Employer Services," click the TRSL Liaisons link.
Simply enter your employer name or employer ID in the search box and click “search.”  If you know your analyst or accountant’s last name but don’t have their contact information handy, you can also enter that in the search box to find them.
Character Limit on Reasons & Comments
When submitting a Full-Time Only Correction, you have three choices for designating a reason:
  1. Select one from the drop-down menu
  2. Type in a comment
  3. Do both
Be aware that there is a limit of 72 characters combined when using both the drop-down menu and comment field. If you don’t select a reason from the drop-down menu, you will have all 72 characters to use in the comment field. Providing as much detail as possible allows TRSL to review and verify your corrections faster.

REMINDER: Use Member Access calculator to estimate benefits!

Don't forget... you now have access to the same online calculator that members use via Member Access. It automatically loads eligibility for retirement and other data, which makes creating benefit estimates a snap!
