Spark of Discovery
Associate Professor and Director of the Science, Technology, and Society Program Amy Fisher is fascinated by electricity—not only how it works but how and why it came to be. Context, she feels, is important to understanding science. A historian of science and technology, she studies the history and philosophy of electricity, chemistry, and their related technologies, and teaches interdisciplinary courses that examine the social, political, and cultural contexts around research experiments and their findings.
