Residential Waste Engagement

Wheat Ridge Residential Waste Engagement

The City of Wheat Ridge is seeking input from residents on their experiences with current trash hauling practices and interest in potential alternatives. Currently, the city has an open market system for residential waste management, which means that residents individually choose and contract with licensed waste haulers operating in the area.
Share your thoughts by filling out this survey before it closes on January 26, 2024.

Following this feedback period, the project team will analyze the results and will gather additional input from residents in spring of 2024. The final engagement report with proposed recommendations on future waste management systems will be published in fall of 2024. Wadsworth Improvement Project Using Sustainable Construction Methods to Reduce Waste

Did you know that the Wadsworth Improvement project is using a sustainable construction method to reduce construction waste? The city’s largest recycling project is happening right before our eyes!

The contractor removes the old highway asphalt pavement, processes it on-site and places it back as road base to support the new concrete pavement. Over 30,000 tons of recycled asphalt has been repurposed as road base, reducing the need for hauling and importing new material. The recycled asphalt used on this project so far could fill more than six Olympic-size swimming pools! This practice is a great way to provide a quality pavement section, reduce waste and cut back on truck hauling activities.

Concrete paving will continue this winter as weather allows. The concrete pavement section is 10 inches thick. The sidewalk and shared-use path are also concrete.

Subscribe to receive traffic alerts on the city's website and find updates on What's Up Wheat Ridge. Any community concerns may be directed to the project hotline at 303-390-0878 or email the project team at WadsworthProject@ci.wheatridge.co.us.

Snowplow Truck

Snow Plow Tracking Map

The City of Wheat Ridge is excited to share that our Public Works department has launched a new Snow Plow Tracking Map!

Wheat Ridge residents now have a new tool, to help them get to and from their homes more safely. Using the new web application, users will be provided with real-time information on plowed roads during and after a snow event.
This tool will keep people updated on snowplow driver progress via the web portal, allowing them to see a map of the nearby plow routes which have been recently cleared or not. It will also allow you to input a specific address using a Google Maps interface to see the work done in that specific area. Best of all, you can access the map from either a desktop or a smartphone which is essential for those who are already traveling. Visit our website to learn more or launch the map on your mobile device

The Projects and Properties Map has information on private property development, major City of Wheat Ridge projects, and individual property information. The tool consists of three separate maps – a private development map, a city projects map, and a property information map.
