STS Honors Information SessionThursday, February 5, 2026, 2:00 - 3:15 pm Lane History Corner, Building 200, Room 124This session will be led by STS Honors Program Director Dr. Kyoko Sato and Senior Director of Undergraduate Research Brian Thomas. The workshop will help you explore your STS interests and questions as you begin thinking about potential research topics for an honors thesis. We will also discuss how to secure research funding, apply for grants, and what it means to be part of the STS Honors Program. The STS Honors Program is open to students in any major and will appear on your degree as receiving honors in STS. For STS majors, the honors program can also replace the capstone requirement For students interested in the honors program, this event is a great opportunity to fulfill one of the application requirements by attending an honors event while learning more about the program. Sex in the Medical Machine: Anticipating Algorithmic Futures in Women’s HealthThursday, February 26, 2026, 4:30 - 6:00 pmPigott Hall, Building 260, Room 113 or on ZoomA data-centric vision of women’s health is reshaping medicine, reproductive technology, wellness culture, and sports science. From sex-stratified clinical algorithms to consumer wearables and femtech apps, these technologies promise empowerment while raising urgent ethical and scientific questions. Dr. Richardson’s talk will draw on gender studies, history of science, critical data studies, and bioethics to examine fairness, inclusion, and scientific rigor in sexed algorithmic approaches to women’s health. This lecture is part of The STS Lectures: Science & Technology Studies Today.

STS Intersect JournalIntersect is an international Science, Technology, and Society research journal run by Stanford undergraduates and supported by the university’s STS Program, publishing work on how social forces and science and technology shape one another. It welcomes submissions from undergraduate through PhD scholars across disciplines and continents, and is not limited to Stanford affiliates. The open-access journal is published online multiple times each academic year at intersect.stanford.edu.

Stanford Undergraduate Assistant NeededThis position involves supporting research integrity across a large set of scholarly journals that make their research freely available to read, using an open-source publishing platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project. Experience with spreadsheets, mail merge, and AI tools is an asset. The work requires 10+ hours per week online for a minimum of four months, with flexible timing and location.
