Nitesh Chawla, founding director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data & Society was invited to chat with Lou Nanni for the seventh episode of For Good: Stories from Notre Dame.
Chawla, an expert in data science and artificial intelligence, discusses the use of technology to advance the common good, how Notre Dame is becoming a leading force for good in the fields of AI, and the potential consequences of not developing those technologies ethically.

What do AlphaFold2, ESM1&2, ChatGPT, GPT-4, DALL-E, and a growing list of generative AI methods have in common? The word disruption comes to mind. Those of us who started our love affair with AI, because we wanted to advance scientific inquiry and the human condition, are familiar with disruptions.
Through representative examples, Shehu will showcase her laboratory’s work on generative AI before and after deep learning.
RSVP is not required but it is encouraged.
