Redefining Our Work for the Next 60 Years
We have spent this 60th anniversary year reflecting on our accomplishments and celebrating how far people with disabilities have come, thanks to advocacy efforts, family support, and organizations like The Arc. Now it's time to look forward to how we can improve our support services for the next 60 years.
Part of this "redefinition" of our work includes a new mission statement and core values which center on connecting people with their communities. We will focus on three strategic areas: promoting a culture of quality, creating a culture of innovation, and becoming the employer of choice. Stay tuned as we share all the details in 2019!
Giving Tuesday Success
Thank you to all of the people who liked, shared, retweeted, posted unselfies and made donations during our #GivingTuesday campaign!  Thanks to your support, we not only reached our goal, but nearly doubled it! This money will go directly to supporting our programs.
If you didn't have a chance to make your Giving Tuesday donation, you can still support our programsjust click here!
Grief and Loss Webinar
Death is something everyone faces at some point in their lives. However, some people feel they must protect children, elderly people and people with disabilities from grief and loss. This presentation, from The Arc of the United States Center for Future Planning, will focus on the grief that comes after someone dies and how families can support people with I/DD during the grief process. Support Decision-Making Stakeholders Meeting
Disability Rights Maryland is holding a stakeholders meeting for people with disabilities, their supporters, providers, and others to meet and discuss supported decision-making (SDR). SDR allows a person to select someone they know and trust to assist with the decision-making process, and is considered an alternative to traditional guardianship.
Learn more about SDR and its benefits  on Friday, December 7 from 2-5 pm at the Hussman Institute for Autism in Catonsville, MD. Contact Megan Rusciano to register at MeganR@disabilityrightsmd.org or 443.692.2487.

Ready to Junk Your Clunker?
Do you have an old car, boat, or motorcycle that you need to get rid of? We can take it off your hands and turn it into cash to directly help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Montgomery County.
It’s easy! You can donate online or by using our toll-free number 1-877-ARC-CAR-0. We’ll arrange for a convenient time to pick up or tow your donated vehicle and we’ll take care of all of the necessary paperwork to ensure you get the maximum tax break allowed. We don’t care if your old car has some dents or rust, or even if it doesn’t run. It can still be used to provide much needed resources for people with I/DD. Click here to get started.
