The Seton Hall College of Nursing Newsletter - Spring 2024 |
On June 15th, it will be one year since I became the Interim Dean at the College of Nursing. And boy, did that year really fly by! I am truly honored and blessed to continue to be a part of the amazing CON team which leads our undergraduate and graduate nursing students as they prepare to start or continue their professional careers.
As you will read in this newsletter, our Spring 2024 semester had many exciting ceremonies, distinctions and accomplishments. In the undergraduate department, our graduates achieved a record first-time NCLEX pass rate of 96.39%. This is particularly exciting as this is with the updated Next Generation-style test which started in April 2023. The White Coat ceremony was held on the South Orange campus in February 2024 which marked the official entrance into the nursing degree for our BSN and ABSN students.
Our graduate programs were again ranked in the Top 17 percent nationally for online programs. Our graduate students and alumni are being recognized in many ways – multiple earned NJLN scholarships, Patricia Acevedo, M.S.N. ’21 opened her own practice, and Kathleen Brown, a current grad student, has garnered a national social media following.
Our faculty continues to achieve national and international recognitions for which we are very proud. Dr. Munira Wells was honored by the Institute of Nursing at the New Jersey States Nurses Association Diva and Don ceremony in April 2024. Associate Dean for Research Dr. Kathleen Neville and Julia Bonfirm were featured in an article and a podcast highlighting research on the opioid epidemic. Multiple faculty were honored at the university’s Annual Excellence Awards including Teresa Nwaneri, our adjunct of the year.
I would like to wish all of you a wonderful and blessed summer season. And we look forward to more exciting accomplishments at the CON for the next academic year. Keep in touch so we can celebrate your accomplishments with you, our True Blue Nurses!
