DRI archaeologists to help preserve Nevada's Lost City using drones
Nevada’s “Lost City,” located northeast of Las Vegas on a terrace above the Muddy River, has been lost twice before – first abandoned by the native people who built it, then later flooded beneath the waters of Lake Mead – but a team of archaeologists from the DRI’s Las Vegas campus hopes to ensure that it isn’t lost a third time.

SCIENCE DISTILLED PODCAST

KUNR Science Distilled Banner
Popular lecture series inspires KUNR podcast
Last month, KUNR launched a new podcast based on the Science Distilled lecture series created by DRI and the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum.
The podcast by KUNR uses the Science Distilled lectures as a jumping off point to discuss current scientific topics with local experts—including DRI faculty—and contextualize those topics with historical perspectives and current events impacting our community and the western United States.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Missy Cummings, Tina Quigley, Kristen Averyt
On Thursday, April 25th, DRI hosted The Science Behind Smarter Communities at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center in Las Vegas.
The evening featured a panel discussion with (pictured above, from left) Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Duke University Professor Dr. Missy Cummings, RTC of Southern Nevada CEO Tina Quigley, and DRI President Dr. Kristen Averyt. In a conversation moderated by KNPR's Joe Schoenmann, panelists explored the possibilities and limitations of new technologies to make our communities smarter, safer, and healthier.
