Patients experiencing a medical emergency require rapid identification of the main problem, accurate diagnosis, and timely treatment. Providing this care in the fast-paced environment of the emergency department (ED) is challenging when older adults present with multiple chronic conditions (MCCs). Join presenters Justine Seidenfeld, MD, MHS, and Jane Jih, MD, MPH, MAS, as they discuss why MCCs matter in the ED. This session will also feature discussion from Cameron Gettel, MD, MHS; David Lynch, MD; and patient/care partner advisor Rosie Bartel.

2025 Evidence to Impact Workshop: Integrating Research on Aging into Health Systems

This 2-day workshop will advance the science and practice of implementation and innovation to improve the care and outcomes of older adults. Hosted this year by the University of Pittsburgh, the workshop's hybrid format with a focus on Age Friendly Health Initiatives, allows for in-person interactive sessions, mentorship and workgroups and uses a webinar platform to engage a wider virtual audience for plenary presentation. Participants will include health systems leadership, researchers, trainees, and clinicians.

The NBER Coordinating Center for Economic Research on AD/ADRD invites applications from early-career investigators committed to carrying out research on the economic impact of prevention, treatment, and care of people living with AD/ADRD and their caregivers. All awardees will be paired with a mentor affiliated with the Consortium to provide guidance on conducting economic research in AD/ADRD and on interacting with related policy, clinical, and caregiving disciplines.
