Duke Office of Research & Innovation
This message is being sent to all Duke faculty engaged in research.

Dear Colleagues,
Duke continues to review public health guidance and the rate of transmission and infection of COVID-19 in our community, with the goal of increasing the level of activity in our research facilities while ensuring the safest possible environment for our faculty, staff, and students, as well as visitors to our campus. In support of this goal, beginning June 1st, Visiting Research Scholars requesting access to Duke’s research facilities will be required to be fully vaccinated.
Scholars must attest to being fully vaccinated as part of their registration in the Visiting Research Scholars Registry. Vaccination has been shown to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and is an important part of our arsenal in the fight against this virus. The availability of multiple safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines continues to increase, and vaccination remains an important step in safeguarding the health of ourselves and our community. Vaccines will be made available to visiting research scholars who are unable to access them before arriving to Duke.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to safely relax restrictions and move Duke research forward.
Sincerely,
R. Sanders Williams, MD
Vice President for Research & Innovation
