Welcome Class of 2028! Orientation Week was jam-packed with activities, words of advice from university leaders, team-building games and activities, a city walk and scavenger hunt, and the annual Qilin Fest.

• Congratulations to Cao Yijia '25, whose clarinet duet composition "Friday Afternoon" (牧童午后) was performed by Long Haibo of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and Tang Yao and Lanzhou Symphony Orchestra at the 2024 Asian Clarinet Festival on August 3. Cao adopted the composition from a final project for her Spring Music Composition Course.


• The inaugural CUHK-NYUSH Summer Program was hosted at NYU Shanghai last week. The New Venture Journey: Mindset Preparation and Skills Readiness program welcomed 12 NYU Shanghai students and 12 CUHK students for five days of startup training, including lectures on mindset preparation and entrepreneurship skill building by CUHK Business School faculty, company visits to Meituan and ClouDr, and a pitch contest judged by NYU Shanghai faculty members.


• 28 students working in 11 departments were honored as Outstanding Student Workers for the 2023-2024 academic year by the Center for Career Development (CCD) to acknowledge their genuine commitment to serving the NYU Shanghai community. The NYU Men's and Women's Basketball teams recently wrapped up a memorable one-week visit to Shanghai to compete in a doubleheader against Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the 2024 Buick Campus Invitational.

More than 15 news outlets including Xinhua News, China Daily, and Jiefang Daily covered the Violets' trip to Shanghai in August, where they immersed themselves in a variety of cultural activities and bonded with their Chinese peers through friendly matches.

• Overseas Students Visit NYU Shanghai for Cultural Exchanges

Over the summer, NYU Shanghai was host to several groups of high school and college students from Europe and the United States as part of China exchange programs, CCTV, Shanghai Daily, and The Paper reported.
