March 2026

Hello and Happy Spring to everyone!

We are about half way to summer break now and we have some improvements and changes to share this month. The biggest incoming change is that STACHE is going to be going away and the university will move to 1Password! We highly recommend you go ahead and register yourself and become familiar with the program. It also provides a personal license for yourself and your family! As always, if you have any questions please reach out. We will have a more detailed article to share soon about how to migrate any departmental passwords you may have in STACHE currently.

Have a great rest of the month and we'll see you in April!

UT Self Service is now + !

UT Self-Service - it's the same app, but plus! For Mac users, the app should now look like a plus sign on the top right of your menu bar. There’s lots of useful day-to-day apps on there, including an option to contact us directly as well as install your departmental printers. Once you sign in it will then look like a longhorn!

1Password Migration

Stache is now moving to 1Password. Stache will transition to read-only in Summer 2026 and will be retired by December 2026. You can start taking a look at what that’s going to look like and begin getting acquainted with the new application. There will soon be a wiki page on steps you can take to start moving over your information.

Computer Backup: Crashplan

If you have a UT device, you should automatically have the CrashPlan application installed. This app is for backing up your local files. We like to think of it as our last-resort safety net, so for files and data for projects being worked on currently, UTBox Drive, Sharepoint, and OneDrive are most suitable.

Managing Your Backup

Warning about rising computer prices

If you or your management team are thinking of purchasing any new computers this year, it might be best to do it sooner than later. Hardware costs are only going to go up in the coming months. Due to higher AI and cloud service demands for data centers and memory chips.
