FOR RTSWS STUDENTS & ALUMNAE

Two RTSWS Student CEO’s Founded and Co-Lead NYC Women in Business Coalition

Two seniors from Beacon High School in New York City, Carly S. and Sydney G., not only lead their RTSWS cohort as Student CEO’s, but also serve as co-presidents for a group open to all NYC high school girls: The New York City Women in Business Coalition, (WIBC)
Carly and Sydney started the WIBC in the midst of the pandemic and hosted a joint virtual event with another NYC public high school. While planning the event, they shared that they "discovered a bond and community that was unlike any other." From here, they built up and became co-presidents of the NYC WIBC.
"We have weekly leadership meetings, frequent member events, a blog open to all writers and viewers, and many networking and internship opportunities. We are so excited to see how we can continue to expand this community and work with existing groups like RTSWS!”
Carly and Sydney are also rocking it as Student CEO’s for the RTSWS cohort. RTSWS Programs Manager, Katie Reynolds, shares, “Carly and Sydney have jumped right into the role of Student CEO launching the first cohort of Rock The Street, Wall Street at their school this year.  They have been pivotal in the growth and success of RTSWS at Beacon HS. They have used their leadership role in their Women in Business club to help spread the word about RTSWS and generate great interest and engagement for the cohort. I am thankful for their leadership and look forward to a great spring semester!”
Their leadership within both groups strengthens the larger mission. Carly and Sydney said, "both RTSWS and NYC WIBC are founded on opening up the business world to a larger community, specifically women. Our WIBC seeks to empower young girls in business, and we do so through speaker events, member-based networking, a blog, a website platform with slide lessons on diverse business topics, and having regular meetings among members for support and a sense of community with like-minded women. That is why getting involved in RTSWS was so appealing to us, as you guys are similarly seeking to provoke the business mind in highschool girls, who are often guided away from finance and business."

Every year, Thrive Scholars generally go to Top 100 colleges for free (almost half go to college in the Ivy League, Stanford, and MIT), earn higher grades, persist in STEM, and achieve higher graduation rates than the student bodies of the schools they go to. Through the FREE, six-year program students receive:

• Intensive Pre-College Summer Academy

• Expert College Advising
