UC Santa Barbara officials are currently monitoring the Alisal Fire and we are writing to let you know that there is no current threat to the UC Santa Barbara campus or Isla Vista area.
Campus officials are in close contact with County Emergency Management and Santa Barbara County Fire.
From campus you may see smoke, but at present the fire is approximately 20 miles from campus and is not currently a threat to campus. Highway 101 has been closed between Winchester Canyon and Highway 1.
