We’re at a pivotal moment. Recent funding cuts to university research threaten the scientific breakthroughs that lead to lifesaving treatments. Without strong support—for research at Duke and institutions across the country—we risk slowing the progress that saves lives. What's at stake? Learn more with these resources.
1. Discover real patient stories about how medical research saves lives. Watch episodes on veteran care, cancer treatments, brain science breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and innovative biomedical engineering technologies.
2. Visit My Duke Research, a public hub for clinical trials. See what trials are underway, sign up to participate in relevant trials, and review the results of recent studies. Just a few of the health issues covered by results posted right now are lung cancer, heart disease, and concussions.
3. In 5 minutes or less, get the facts about research in the Triangle area and what funding cuts mean from these LinkedIn visual posts: What if Funding is Cut , Top 5 Takeaways F&A, NC Powerhouse. We invite you to share these with your networks.
4. Duke News tracks national and local media articles so it is a good way to see what others are saying. Relevant example: The New Republic published a sweeping summary of the positive impacts of higher ed on individuals, states and the country, and therefore what's at risk in this moment.
