In FY23, IT@Sam is aligning our operations and services with SHSU’s new strategic plan. This alignment provides us with a unique opportunity to partner with campus to evaluate and provide the following enhancements to the IT experience:
- Alignment with Campus for Student Success and Fulfillment of SHSU Strategic Plan
- Improved Support and User Experience
- Increased Efficiency and Transparency of IT Operations
- Simplified Technology Acquisitions
- Upgraded Technology and Information Security
As IT begins to implement these improvements, we will continue assisting with regular technology issues such as a phone or computer not working, simply contact us or submit a support ticket for assistance.
Throughout this alignment, there will be process shifts that affect you. IT@Sam will continue providing regular updates, like this one, and sharing progress on these efforts throughout the coming year.
Upcoming: Process Change for New Requests and Projects
On September 1, each division will be assigned a designated division liaison(s) and an IT business analyst team. This group is responsible for processing your requests and working with you to prioritize any new IT service requests and projects.
In addition, your division liaison(s) and business analyst team will meet to review all division requests and projects to evaluate each request against the university’s new strategic plan and state regulatory requirements. This includes requests such as major software purchases, additional server needs, and more. All requests that are not regulatory requirements will need to align with the new strategic plan and resubmitted as budget requests for the FY24 budget year. For now, you will continue making these requests using the current process.
In the future, these roles will evolve as needed to better serve the Office of the President. This is the first step of many to ensure that IT@Sam supports our faculty and staff as we all work together to prioritize student success for years to come.
Also on September 1, you will receive a kick-off email for the IT Strategic Alignment sharing the first set of updates and the website where you can learn more about our initiative and track our progress.
We look forward to partnering with you and ensuring that IT is poised to be your strategic partner for technology related needs for years to come.
Thank you,
Dr. Heather Thielemann & Dr. McCartney Johnson
