How to Register for Classes |
|
|
|
|
Before your time ticket opens: Resolve any registration holds and complete the Registration and Financial Aid Agreement in the top-right corner of your Experience homepage.
Once your time ticket opens:
|
-
Go to Registration Self-Service → Register for Classes.
- Select Your Term (Spring Semester or Summer Session).
- Enter the six-digit PIN for your selected term in the Alternate PIN field.
-
Browse and add courses, using Part of Term to find the correct timeframe (e.g., First Spring, Second Spring, or Full Term). If you used Plan Ahead, open the Plans tab and select Add All.
-
Select Submit to complete your registration.
|
|
|
|
- Meet With Your Advisor & Get Your PINs: You will receive a separate six-digit PIN from your academic advisor or department for each term: Winter 2027, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027. If advising is required, you will only receive your PINs after you have been advised. Once released, your PINs will appear in the Advise Communication card. Be sure you're using the PIN for the correct term.
- Use Plan Ahead & Keep It Updated: Use Browse Classes to see available courses, then build up to three draft schedules in Plan Ahead. Schedules may change and courses may fill, so check your plans before your time ticket opens.
- Stick to One Device & Browser Tab: Register using only one device and browser tab at a time. Multiple active sessions may trigger errors.
-
Know Your Credit Hour Limits: Each term has minimum and maximum credit hour limits, which may vary by term and student classification. For example, Winter Intersession has a lower credit hour limit than a full spring semester. Be sure to review the academic catalog when planning your schedule. Registering for more hours than allowed may require special approval.
- Adjust Variable Credit Hours: Courses such as internships, independent studies, thesis hours, and research credits may default to the lowest credit option (usually 1 hour). If the credit hours are underlined in the Hours column, click the number to enter the correct amount.
-
Registering for Repeated Courses: In Banner, repeated courses count toward your classification only once unless designated as repeatable for credit. If you're registering for a second or third attempt, you'll need to request an override.
-
Requesting an Override When Needed: Some courses require special permission. Submit the appropriate override request form to the Dean's Office offering the course.
-
Understanding Waitlists: If a course is full, joining its waitlist puts you in line for an available seat but doesn't guarantee enrollment. If a seat opens, you'll receive an email and have a limited time to register. Not all courses will have waitlists as an option.
-
Using Conditional Add/Drop to Swap Courses: Want to switch classes without risking your current seat? Conditional Add/Drop lets you keep your existing course unless the new one is successfully added.
