Dear Members of the NJCU Community:
We are happy to announce that New Jersey City University will continue the four (4) day workweek for the period beginning the week of June 6, 2022 and ending on August 19, 2022. The schedule, which mirrors our pre-pandemic summer scheduling, provides for the necessary preparation in advance of the Fall 2022 semester. As in past years, this schedule must meet our needs for ensuring business continuity.
During the four-day workweek period, the hours of work will be established according to the schedule below:
ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF
All No Limit (NL) Employees (FLSA Exempt Employees)
- 8 a.m. to 5: 15 p.m., Monday through Thursday
- 30-minute lunch period
No Limit (NL) employees are expected to work the stated hours plus whatever additional time is necessary to complete their work.
SECRETARIAL/CLERICAL STAFF
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday
- (2) 10 minute breaks
- 30-minute lunch period
For the administrative and secretarial/clerical staffs, any additional time off during the (4) day workweek will continue to be charged at the rate of one and one quarter (1.25) days per each day taken off.
FACILITIES AND PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENTS
The four (4) day workweek does not apply to essential staff, which is defined as the Facilities and Public Safety Departments. Please see your supervisor for more information.
JUNETEENTH and FOURTH OF JULY WORK WEEKS
During the weeks beginning June 13th and July 4th, the University will operate on a regular work week schedule.
- The University is closed on Friday, June 17 in observance of Juneteenth.
- The University is closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. (NOTE: Friday, July 1 will be a summer Friday and the university will be closed.)
SUMMER DRESS GUIDELINES
It is our responsibility to set a positive example for students and the community that constantly reflects professionalism and exhibits positive customer service. Our practice is that faculty and staff dress professionally in a manner which represents the institution well. Employees who are required to wear uniforms are excluded.
