On Friday, October 21, 2022, the College launched its first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign Spread Your Wings: The Campaign for Endicott College. As an alumna from the Class of 1978, a member of Endicott’s Board of Trustees, and Co-chair of the Spread Your Wings campaign, I am pleased to share this news with you.
I have seen firsthand the exponential growth of Endicott College. When the College was founded in 1939 by Dr. Eleanor Tupper as a two-year, school for women, the goal was – to educate women for greater independence and an enhanced position in the workplace – and a commitment to experiential learning. Over the decades, Endicott has evolved into a thriving four-year, co-educational institution offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
While some things change and evolve, the core of the Endicott experience—the experience that I, and I hope you, had— remains the same today as it did all those years ago. We celebrate that history and continue to build on it today. Now, with the propulsion of the Spread Your Wings campaign, we strive toward a future Endicott where the limitless potential of our students is unlocked through our desire to meet our students' needs and support their paths to fulfilling their dreams and uncovering their passions.
To learn more about the campaign, please visit the Spread Your Wings website: espreadyourwings.endicott.edu. I hope you will join me in helping Endicott continue to soar.
Sincerely,

Announcing Spread Your Wings: The Campaign for Endicott College
Endicott's $75 Million Comprehensive Fundraising Campaign
Spread Your Wings: The Campaign for Endicott College is the College's first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign that will transform the College and set the stage for current and future Gulls to soar even higher. The campaign’s trajectory has already been established through transformative contributions from Chair of the Board of Trustees Melissa Hempstead ’69 and Cummings Foundation, along with others who have answered the call to support our bold vision for Endicott’s future:
- $2 million from Trustee Ayune Michel ’72 to provide discretionary growth capital at the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences;
- $1 million from Trustee Myrt Harper Rose ’56 to name and endow the deanship at the School of Education.
Centered around three of the key pillars in the strategic plan, Sail Beyond the Shore—Power of Place, Transformational Learning, and Strength of Story—Spread Your Wings: The Campaign for Endicott College will fund critical updates to buildings and enhance academic and athletic facilities; expand study abroad and internship opportunities; grow scholarship funds that continue to attract a diverse and talented student body; and beyond.
If you are interested in learning more about Spread Your Wings, please visit the campaign website or contact the Institutional Advancement team directly at 978-232-2017.

Great Gull Gems | Grant Thompson '18
| |
During his Endicott undergraduate years, Grant Thompson, member of the Class of 2018, was a student-athlete playing lacrosse, studying Communications and Media Studies, and fishing for sharks from a kayak!
Grant’s passion for fishing sparked at a young age when he and his grandfather embarked on fishing adventures off the coast of Maine. The progression from catching sunfish to seeking sharks is not the norm; however, it is how this story goes. After seeing a photo in a Maine restaurant of two fishermen from the early 1900s standing proudly behind a porbeagle shark they caught, Grant's interest ignited, and he became focused on the thrill of the chase. While one may envision a fisherman casting his line from the side of a boat hoping to secure an impressive bass, this is not that. Grant not only prefers sharks to fish, his vessel of choice is a kayak opposed to a boat.
Words such as – crazy or insane – have been loosely associated with Grant’s chase, those adjectives do not apply to the calculated, intentional, and precise planning that goes into when and where he decides to cast his line. Grant has been towed around the ocean for 25 minutes, five miles out to sea, by a 6-foot Blue Shark off the coast of York, Maine. While some may say, "Not for me!" Grant is most likely to say, “Give this Gull another try!” Grant has been featured in multiple Maine publications highlighting his unique pursuit. We can't wait to hear what he catches next!
Do you have a fun, interesting, smile-inducing fact you would like to share with the EC Alumni Community? Please contact Molly Hyman '22 via email or phone at 978-232-2018 with your story.
