At the last leg of the inaugural Sino-Foreign University Cup last weekend, NYU Shanghai’s Qilins went up against University of Nottingham Ningbo China and Duke Kunshan University, competing in six sports. Here’s your recap!

•  Congratulations to Dean of Business and Distinguished Global Professor of Business Chen Yuxin, along with Director of the Center for Applied Social and Economic Research and Yufeng Global Professor of Social Science Wu Xiaogang and Professor of Neuroscience Zhong-Lin Lu. The three have been ranked in a list of most highly cited Chinese researchers in 2024 by Elsevier, an academic publishing authority. The ranking uses Scopus, a global authoritative citation and index database, as a statistical source of scholarly research achievements in China.

• Congratulations to Professor of Global Public Health and Director of the Center for Global Health Equity Brian Hall for being appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences by Cambridge University Press.

•  Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance David Yu for being appointed as a member of the Standing Committee on Aviation Economics and Forecasting.  

• On March 22, alumni and current graduate students from NYU Shanghai and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center/Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies gathered at NYU Shanghai for an enriching intellectual exchange and networking experience. The event featured a roundtable discussion on the future of human-AI interaction with faculty from both institutions, including Xu Qingwen, Zheng Tingjun, Li Xiaorong, Adam K Webb, and Thomas Simon. The conversation explored the intersection of AI with social work, business, political science, philosophy, and beyond.  

•  Clinical Assistant Professor of History Wen Shuang is taking her students to visit the Xiaotaoyuan Mosque on Friday to meet the imam and share an iftar break fast meal to celebrate the month of Ramadan.
